1) GARMIN - Sons of Fishes

In 2016 Garmin announced the addition of 21 professional fishermen to its marine pro team. The team of more than 60 anglers includes professional bass, walleye, and crappie fishermen who will be representing Garmin in tournament trails across North America, including the B.A.S.S. Elite Series and FLW Tour. In conjunction with this announcement, they also  began a national campaign called “Sons of Fishes,” which includes television, print, digital and social media executions that show why so many professional anglers are making the switch to Garmin.

The primary reason members of this “fishing club” are switching to Garmin is because of its new revolutionary PanoptixTM all-seeing sonar technology that provides a real-time video-like image of the bottom, structure and fish swimming around or in front of the boat.

2) TESLA - Not a Dream

Major kudos to the creative and dedicated user base of Tesla.  The automaker also deserves credit for recognizing the power of user generated content. After all, 54% of millennials, who will soon have the greatest combined purchasing power in history,  were found to rely on UGC when making an informed car purchase. As with previous fan-made work, the automaker has promoted this ad on Twitter—the brand's proven willingness to amplify the platform is a clear incentive for shoestring filmmakers seeking exposure to churn out these pieces.

The ad, titled "Not a Dream" created by writing/directing duo the Freise Brothers, has a high melodrama factor in its voice over. But it comes with a powerful twist when you learn that it is based on actual words from Nikola Tesla, the engineer and inventor after whom the car brand is named.

3) RED BULL - 8 Disciplines of Flight Converge over Moab | Chain Reaction

The Red Bull Air Force is a team assembled from the most accomplished and experienced aviation experts on the planet. So what happens when a highly-skilled, precision-flying crew is tasked with creating their dream project? You get a team of athletes who do more than just step up to the challenge.  Imagine being able to jump out of an airplane, pull your parachute and drift back down to Earth, anytime you wanted. Then, once your skydiving skills got polished, you could jump with a wingsuit and fly like a bird or even start BASE jumping! Set against the backdrop of the Fisher Towers in Moab, Utah, the team uses pain-staking coordination to showcase their aerial talents all at once. With the help of some impressive precision driving in an Audi RS 7, the different feats flow together like a chain reaction, providing a snapshot of the amazing possibilities when humans take flight. On-screen data collected by Garmin VIRB XE. That’s a whole lot of awesome right there. exposure to churn out these pieces.

4) SIERRA CLUB - Chasing the Distance

A personal dive into the lives of ultra-running athletes and husband and wife team Rob Krar and Christina Bauer. They share their deep connection to each other and the area of the proposed Greater Grand Canyon Heritage National Monument in Arizona. Though intimately connected with the well-being of Grand Canyon National Park and the health of local communities and economies, this area remains at risk from threats such as toxic uranium mining. A national monument designation would permanently protect the region.

5) SPACE X - The Falcon Has Landed

Ok, so space travel is just cool and the SpaceX recap video of the 2015 launch and return landing of the Falcon 9 that delivered 11 satellites to low-Earth orbit on Dec. 21 backed by the aggressive rock stylings of Incubus ("Absolution Calling") is just awesome. This video is essentially a marketing video for commercial space missions but it also serves to remind us of just how special these accomplishments really are. It is simply incredible to see the Falcon 9 return from a mission and touch down on Earth like something out of a sci-fi movie.
